Low Carbon Cities and Carbon Market Development Project
The Program Development Objective is to (i) reduce carbon emission and cost of operation for Thailand, (ii) improve air quality, and (iii) tap into the potential of the carbon market to offset the cost of investments with short-term and no regret interventions that are proposed to be implemented in the coming years to enable immediate actions of stakeholders to move towards a green and climate-resilient future. The program aims to support Thailand to reduce carbon emissions and move towards a green and climate resilient future through the following interventions: • Increasing renewable energy (RE) generation capacity for captive consumption • Improving energy efficiency (EE) in buildings • Upgrading to LED streetlights • Transition to electric vehicles
