Water for People – Clean Water Access Programme in Africa

The PoA "Water for People – Clean Water Access Programme in Africa" targets peri-urban and rural communities and institutions in Rwanda, Malawi, and Uganda, where many still rely on unsafe water sources and purify their water by boiling it over wood-fueled stoves. Across these three countries, existing water infrastructure is often inadequate or in disrepair due to limited maintenance capacity and insufficient water treatment. Under this PoA, Water For People, in collaboration with government authorities and community WASH committees, will install, rehabilitate, and maintain thousands of water points in each country to deliver reliable, safe water to communities and institutions. By providing safe drinking water without the need for fuel, the programme directly reduces greenhouse gas emissions while improving health and livelihoods.
