GS23659- Ubuzima Clean Water Project

The Ubuzima Clean Water Project targets peri-urban and rural communities in Rwanda, where many households and institutions still rely on collecting unsafe water and purifying it by boiling over wood-fueled stoves. This practice generates greenhouse gas emissions and exposes families to harmful indoor air pollution. Providing safe drinking water without the need for fuel will directly reduce emissions while improving health and livelihoods across participating communities. Many existing water sources in Rwanda are either inadequate or in disrepair due to limited maintenance capacity and insufficient water treatment. Under this Voluntary Programme of Activity, Water For People, in collaboration with government authorities and local operators, will install, rehabilitate, and maintain water points to deliver reliable, safe water to communities.
