ecoWise Distributed Solar Programme
The ecoWise Distributed Solar Programme (the Programme) is a voluntary Programme of Activities (PoA) coordinated and managed by Vectar Energy Limited (the CME). It brings small and medium solar photovoltaic (PV) systems installed under one set of rules and registers them for carbon credit issuance under the Gold Standard for the Global Goals (GS4GG). The systems serve households and community facilities in off-grid areas, residential and commercial and industrial (C&I) users that depend on diesel generators or an unreliable grid. Where a participant also commits to permanently decommissioning the existing fossil fuel generator, the activity is developed under the Just Transition pathway. The Programme exists to make distributed solar projects financeable and fast track the deployment of solar projects to contribute to the delivery for SDG 7 and initiatives such as Mission 300. Many viable projects in emerging markets are never built because individual developers cannot reach carbon markets on their own and cannot raise affordable finance and also cannot stand the test of time as a result of several OPEX barriers. By aggregating these projects and giving developers structured ac
