Mechanical Reuse of Steel Plates from Wind Turbines
This project aims to mechanically process large-format steel plates (up to 2 t) from industrial dismantling without melting them down. The plates are restored to a technically flawless condition through straightening, flame cutting, and sandblasting, and are then reintroduced to the market as construction steel. In contrast to conventional recycling methods that rely on energy-intensive melting processes (e.g., blast furnaces or electric arc furnaces (EAF)), this project creates 'Reuse Steel' through a purely mechanical process. This approach avoids a significant portion of the energy and CO2 intensity associated with conventional steel production. The resulting Reuse Steel can be a substitute for various steel applications across construction or infrastructure components (non-structural).
