GS23548-GS23549-RVPA-1 d.light Clean Energy Access Programme-Nigeria

The voluntary project activity (VPA) is a voluntary initiative by d.light to distribute solar lighting systems (SLS) for lighting purposes in Nigeria. The target beneficiaries under the project will be the households which were earlier dependent on fossil fuel (kerosene) for lighting their homes. d.light is a global leader in solar-powered solutions for people without access to reliable electricity. They will ensure that the SLS distributed under the programme are accessible to all the end users covered under this VPA. Distribution of SLS which is a clean energy product (CEP) as compared to the baseline, will reduce the GHG emissions. SLS will provide access to basic services (lighting) at affordable cost by replacing traditional kerosene lanterns, thereby eliminating the use of fuel, and reducing GHG emissions corresponding to the fuel saving by the project activity. The SLS will offer several environmental benefits such as reduction in the levels of indoor air pollution (IAP) thereby having a positive impact on the health of the community.
