GS23612 - VPA-1 - Renewable energy generation through solar photovoltaic in Thailand
The proposed VPA aims to increase renewable energy generation capacity via solar photovoltaic (PV) installation in public and private buildings. Thailand has immense potential for solar-based projects. While large-scale solar farms require large land-use, rooftop solar can utilize the space on the rooftops of buildings or in and around as captive ground-mounted solar installations within the premises of the buildings in cities. Thus, installing solar for buildings is a practical measure to reduce emissions and energy demand for cities. The VPA entails the installation of rooftop and ground-mounted solar PV systems for captive (self-consumption) use in Thailand. The VPA will generate approximately 20,126 MWh annually and achieve 8,030 tCO2 in annual emission reductions.
