GS23156-GS13112 RVPA-1 VPA-15 Improved Rice Cultivation in Bangladesh
The purpose of this project is to modernize paddy cultivation in Bangladesh by promoting and implementing the alternate wetting and drying (AWD) method in project farms/areas. The AWD method promoted under the project is designed to optimize water usage in paddy cultivation by alternating periods of wetting and drying. This technique reduces water consumption and improves soil aeration, as a result methane emissions from paddy fields are significantly reduced contributing to lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
