VPA 1: Kisan Kalpa: Cultivating Sustainable Income Pathways for Farmers

The primary objective of the Programme of Activities (PoA) is to establish and manage 10,000 ha of agroforestry plantations on croplands across the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan through the implementation of multiple Voluntary Project Activities (VPAs). The PoA aims to promote sustainable land-use practices by introduction of diverse tree species. Through active engagement with local farmers and stakeholders, the PoA initiative will not only sequester approximately 2,433,999 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the crediting period but also plays a crucial role in developing resilient agroforestry systems that not only restore ecological balance but also deliver long-term social and economic benefits to local farmer communities. The first real case VPA under this PoA, implemented a small scale agroforestry plantation of 98 ha which sequesters 10,889 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over the crediting period across multiple districts of Gujarat, India, which involves the plantation of multiple agroforestry species on agricultural land. By actively engaging local farmers, the VPA seeks to create resilient agroforestry plantations that generate long term ecological, economic and social benefits fo
