UHI “YUEDIAN 83” Shipping Retrofit Project

The Project comprises the application of one or more energy efficiency measures as retrofits to existing ships. The types of eligible retrofit measures include Design related measures、Propulsion measures、Machinery measures、Operating measures etc. These measures would reduce fossil fuel consumption and thereby reduce CO2 emissions. Since the ship in this project travels in international waters, shipping emissions and emissions reduction are not included in the GHG inventory of any country usually. The International Maritime Organisation (IMO, belonging to the UN) is responsible for setting commitments on emissions from ships, there is no Host Country for these projects. Moreover, there is no physical geographical location of the project activity. However, the ship has a unique identification number established by the IMO. As stated in Section “Baseline Methodology: Project Boundary” of the methodology “Retrofit Energy Efficiency Measures in Shipping”: “The spatial project boundary is the geographical location of project ships in which vessels are clearly identified by their unique IMO-Number.” .The proposed project is considered to be micro scale, since the expected emissions r
