GS23487-Mangrove Restoration Project of 500 Hectares

The "Mangrove Restoration Project of 500 Hectares" is the first of several expected voluntary project activities (VPAs) to be included under the broader framework of the Programme of Activities (PoA) “Community Program for the Preservation and Restoration of Mangroves”. The project consists of the ecological restoration of 500.87 hectares of degraded mangrove ecosystems. The total project area consists of 500.87 ha, out of which 431.14 ha are eligible (degraded and transitional mangrove). Restoration measures include the reconnection of blocked tidal channels and removal of sediment plugs, assisted natural regeneration where hydrological conditions permit, and enrichment planting with native species.
