KPC Arakan 1 Project

KPC intends to develop a bamboo plantation designed to address socio-economic and environmental challenges in the Philippines. Bamboo is known for its high carbon sequestration capabilities. One of our goals is to contribute to greenhouse gas (GHG) removals thereby generating high integrity carbon credits representing verified greenhouse gas removals over the crediting period and also providing jobs and economic returns to the IP communities. The geographic region of the project is in Cotabato province in the Philippines within the two Municipalities of President Roxas and Arakan. The project will be implemented on IPs’ ancestral lands within the defined project boundary. The project will provide a sustainable and steady source of livelihood for IP communities that will help address rural poverty and will provide the new generation of IP’s better opportunities in life. It will foster rural development, strengthen food security, and promote social stability through sustainable employment generation. It will also foster collaboration between the private and public sectors to further develop the Philippine bamboo industry.
