GS23436 VPA-3 Climate Friendly Paddy Cultivation in Bangladesh
The VPA on sustainable rice cultivation using Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) technology is implemented in Thakurgaon district of Bangladesh. The process significantly reduces methane emissions by introducing aeration periods in the soil, breaking the anaerobic conditions that promote methane generation. As a result, AWD supports higher resilience to climate variability, making it an ideal sustainable solution for rice cultivation.
