GS23436 VPA-9 Climate Friendly Paddy Cultivation in Bangladesh
The VPA aims to reduce methane emissions from rice cultivation through the implementation of the Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) technique. This small-scale Gold Standard VPA is located in the Narsingdi district of Bangladesh. The objective of the initiative is to introduce AWD, a water-saving irrigation method on rice fields managed by smallholder farmers who currently practice continuous flooding (CF) thereby supporting climate resilient agricultural practices.
