Proactiva CGA Iperó Landfill Gas to Energy Project

The project activity titled “Proactiva CGA Iperó Landfill Gas to Energy Project” encompasses the promotion of destruction and utilization landfill gas (LFG) (rich in methane) at the CGA Iperó landfill site. LFG destruction occurs in a high temperature enclosed flare and through its utilization as gaseous fuel for electricity generation (in engine-generator sets). Thus, besides methane destruction, the project activity also promotes generation of electricity by using renewable energy sources (with a total nameplate capacity of about 8.5 MW). The CGA Iperó landfill is located located in the border of Sorocaba and Iperó’s municipalities, in São Paulo State, Southeastern Region of Brazil.
